Luong Van Song, a “barefoot” billionaire

Luong Van Song is well-known as a “barefoot” billionaire in Bau Co hamlet,  Phuoc Hoa commune in Phu Giao district. With many good ways in production and business, he has been awarded the title of “central-level good farmer” in 2012.

Pham Thanh Dung, chairman of Phuoc Hoa communal Farmers’ Society said that as a soldier of Uncle Ho, Luong Van Song actively worked during the country’s resistance war. When peace has restored to the country, he has become a good farmer in production and business.

  Luong Van Dong and his rubber plantationAfter liberation, Song returned Phu Giao homeland from the army. Realizing that weather and soil conditions herein were suitable to cultivation and animal husbandry, he decided to get rich from agricultural production.

In 1985, he bravely developed agricultural production with many difficulties in the initial period. At that time, he owned 7 hectares of cashew and 4 hectares of sugar-cane. He also got involved in the animal husbandry model with around 30 cows, over 10 sows and nearly 100 pigs for meat. His family’s annual average income was estimated at around VND400-VND500mln.

Attachment to rubber tree

Realizing that rubber tree brings hi-economic efficiency, Song has changed to the model of developing this kind of tree.

Currently, Song possesses 21 hectares of rubber, including 10 hectares under exploitation. He is forwarding to grow additional 2,000 rubber trees in the land just improved. On average, his family secures around VND400mln from rubber trees per year.

With achievements in production and business, Song was awarded the title of “provincial-level good farmer” for many consecutive years together with the certificates of merit from Phuoc Hoa communal Farmers’ Society, Veterans’ Society. He has just been presented with the title of “central-level good farmer” in production and business.

Song has also actively got involved in social charity activities, including raising money to build gratitude houses, donating Tet gifts to the poor, providing non-interest rate loans for the poor to develop homebased business…

As planned, Song will further expand his rubber-growing area and apply sci-tech advancements in cultivation for better efficiency.
