Update: 30-10-2015 | 11:21:32

In 2012, Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 46/2012/QD-UBND on “Measures, policies facilitating agricultural development towards urban agriculture, high-tech agriculture, ecological agriculture combined with processing industry in Binh Duong province in the 2012-2015 period” (Decision No. 46). To implement this decision, many effective agricultural models have emerged and become the strength in order for the province to develop sustainably in the future.

 To encourage investments in agriculture

After balancing budget and planning socio-economic development of the province in the 2015- 2020 with a vision till 2030, PPC agreed to save 2% total local budget’s disbursement in the 2016-2020 for agricultural accommodative polices.

Currently, the province has 4 high-tech agricultural zones with a total area of 991.4ha in Phu Giao district, North Tan Uyen district and Tan Uyen town. These high-tech agricultural zones went into operation. Three of these were supported by the province through land rent exemption or reduction worth totally over VND62.292 billion. The other is considered for supporting.

Notably, An Thai high-tech agricultural zone located in An Thai commune, , Phu Giao district was invested by U&I Agriculture JSC. The zone developed more than 80ha of vegetables, fruits, ornamental plants, medicinal drugs applying high technologies. Especially, the green-house melon growing model has brought revenue of VND1 billion/crop/ha and a profit of VND500 million/crop/ha after deducting all expenses.

Most products of An Thai high-tech agricultural zone have been sold in large supermarkets, like: Metro, Big C... The zone has also boosted trade promotion, product advertisement to foreign markets, like: Japan, Korea...

To improve product quality

Implementing Decision No. 46, competent authorities launched programs on preferential loans, funding of initial capital investment, land reclamation, assisting in market expansion, trade promotion and product development… Accordingly, during 3 years, loan assessing council received and granted 30 loans investing in agricultural investments meeting requirements of subjects, planning, investment sites, processes, and technical economic norms. Total loan value was VND195.478 billion.

Surveys showed that profits from livestock growing models averaged from VND100-120 million/litter to pig herds of 900-1200, poultry flocks of 12,000-15,000; orchid growing model averaged from VND100-120 million/year /1,000m2, ensuring debt payment capability and reinvestment in the next stage.

Good results from loans contributed to shifting crop – livestock structure. Technological advancements were applied widely; models applying urban agriculture – high-tech agriculture increased in terms of quantity and quality. Therefore, the percentage of using new varieties and gaining high productivity reached 80-100%; high-tech planting area increased 925.52ha; 80% poultry flocks and 28% pig herds were applied high technologies…

High-tech agricultural production models in Binh Duong have brought high productivity to farmers. This also proved that agricultural development towards high technology applications was the right way for sustainable development.

Pham Van Bong, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that high-tech agricultural production models in the province achieved good results, because Binh Duong has taken breakthrough steps in agricultural production innovation to bring high profits to farmers. At the present, the province has over 2,500 high-tech agricultural models including many effective practices, like: rearing ornamental fishes, growing safe vegetables, orchids... Provincial agricultural sector has expanded these practices for all farmers to apply.
