Along with supporting train and plane tickets for workers to return home for Tet, this year, provincial Youth Unions at all levels have also organized many spring fun programs for about 450,000 needy workers who will stay in Binh Duong for Tet. These include organizing visits to workers at lodging facilities, giving gifts for workers at enterprises, organizing Tet meals for orphans, giving credit cards for online purchase to workers...
VND 302 billion spent on taking care of workers on Tet
According to provincial Labor Union, during the Tet festival 2024, it is expected that about 800,000 trade unionists and workers will be taken care of by provincial Labor Union and local authorities, with a total amount of VND 302 billion. Particularly, provincial People's Committee, districts, towns and cities have planned to spend more than VND 44 billion on supporting 44,400 workers. Provincial Labor Union will coordinate with relevant units to organize delegations of provincial leaders to visit, encourage and offer gifts to workers at lodging facilities and businesses.
Many localities have early implemented activities to take care of trade unionists and employees during the Tet festival 2024
Regarding the care activities of provincial Trade Union and superior Trade Union, there is a chain of "Trade Union Tet Market" in association with "Tet Reunion", absorbing 150,000 trade unionists and workers participating in booths providing goods with preferential price and “zero-dong” booths. Trade unions at all levels will give more than 85,000 gifts worth VND500,000 each for poor-but-excellent trade unionists, workers with a total amount of more than VND 42 billion.
Along with that, provincial Labor Union and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will support 1,450 train tickets for trade unionists and workers to return home for Tet in the Northern provinces to Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, and Hanoi stations; support 3,500 bus tickets for trade unionists and workers with extremely difficult circumstances to return home for Tet. In addition, there will be a program giving plane tickets for employees under the program of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and 30 plan tickets mobilized by provincial Labor Union. To take care of employees staying in Binh Duong for Tet, provincial Trade Union will organize cultural and artistic activities for trade unionists and employees; organize Tet meals for children whose parents died, due to Covid-19 epidemic; gave away 4,000 credit cards for online purchase at the "Trade Union Tet Market" program organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Also according to provincial Labor Union, it is expected that this Tet, trade union locals will give 700,000 gifts for trade unionists and employees with a total amount of VND 175 billion; coordinate with businesses to organize year-end parties, cultural and artistic activities for employees; coordinate with businesses to organize buses to take workers home for Tet and return to work after Tet... It is expected that the source of social mobilization to take care of workers on Tet from trade unions at all levels in the province is about VND 21 billion.
Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union shared: "The subjects that provincial Trade Union takes care of during Tet are all trade unionists and workers, with priority given to those with extremely difficult circumstances, hit by workplace accidents, fatal diseases... Activities will be organized diversely, flexibly, focusing on the grassroots; be safe, effective, economical, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere among trade unionists and employees, suitable to the conditions of each locality and unit".
Trade unions at all levels being proactive to take care of workers on Tet
Based on provincial Labor Union’s plan to take care of employees on Tet, over the past month, the Labor Unions of districts, towns, cities and trade unions of industrial parks and compounds in the province have coordinated with workers, businesses, local authorities to set up Tet care programs for trade unionists and workers.
Nguyen Van Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP)’s Trade Union said that the Trade Union has planned to take care of employees during Tet, with 4 main activities. Particularly, the Trade Union will organize the "welfare market" program on January 20 at provincial Labor Cultural Center. It is expected that dozens of businesses will participate in preferential sales, price support, and discounts to serve tens of thousands of workers at VSIP. At the same time, the unit will organize the "Tet reunion - Spring sharing" program, giving gifts for trade unionists and employees with extremely difficult circumstances staying in Binh Duong for Tet; giving bus tickets for trade unionists to return home for Tet. On February 5, VSIP’s Trade Union will visit and give gifts for trade unionists and employees at factories and lodging facilities; organize the "Spring bus" program.
In addition to activities of visiting, giving gifts, and creating spring playgrounds for workers, the Trade Union of province-based Industrial Parks has planned to organize 3 sessions of "Trade Union Tet Market" in 2024 to serve workers. The recent “Tet Trade Union market-day” at Dong An Industrial Park was warmly welcomed by thousands of workers. In general, items for Tet shopping for employees have quite good quality and are from 20% to 30% cheaper than to those bought in the market. Le Thi Bao Quyen, a worker working at Dong An Industrial Park, shared: The "Trade Union Tet Market" sessions are very practical and meaningful. Especially, this year, when workers' income has decreased compared to previous years, the markets have helped workers save a large amount of spending. I hope there will be such market-days for workers across the province".
In Tan Uyen city, the 2024 "Tet reunion - Spring sharing" program, “Trade Union Tet Market” program will be associated with the 3rd "Bach Dang Grapefruit Fragrance" festival in Bach Dang commune. When participating in the program, workers have the opportunity to watch musical performances, lucky draw, buy discounted goods and especially enjoy the traditional grapefruit wine of the island land...
This year, the Labor Unions of Di An city, Ben Cat town will coordinate with local authorities to organize Tet meals that are bigger than usual. The program will be thoughtfully organized, full of fun items on Tet. The program can be considered as a humanitarian activity during the traditional Tet holiday that these localities dedicate to employees who have come to work, live and have a long-term attachment to them.
