Meeting to celebrate 60th anniversary of the opening of strategic corridor Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh road

On Nov 4, in Thu Dau Mot City, Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Road Traditional Association of Binh Duong Province held a meeting to celebrate 60th anniversary of the opening of the strategic corridor Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh street, the section from South Central Highlands to the Southeast and connects with border area, connecting the two South - North regions. 

At the meeting, many veterans, former youth volunteers of Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Road Traditional Association, recalled the fine tradition of "Truong Son soldiers" in general, and military units that had opened up two routes to the East and the West from South Central Highlands connecting with the Southeast.

In May 1959, due to the difficult situation of the Southern revolution, President Ho Chi Minh, the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense established B90 Division. This was a secret unit from the North to the South and specialized in building material facilities, opening up two east and west roads from the South Central Highlands, now is Dak Nong province, connecting with the Southeast. 

At the same time, the Southern Party Committee established C200 Division to secretly check the way from Ma Da - War Zone D to the South Central Highlands; C270 Division from Phuoc Long (Binh Phuoc province) also secretly opened the way to the border area. On 30 Oct and 4 Nov 1960, all three units B90, C200 and C270 cleared connection with each other. The end of Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh road was cleared, connecting strategic corridor from the North to the Southern battlefield, making a practical contribution to the Southern Revolution by supporting human strength, materials, and weapons in time.

On this occasion, Colonel Truong Xuan Lai, Political Commissar of Dak Nong province Military Command, awarded certificate of merit issued by People's Committee of Dak Nong Province to Liaison Committee of B90, C200 and C270 Divisions for many contributions to providing information, historical documents, and donating many valuable historical artifacts to Dak Nong province (photo).
