The sixth National Games were officially inaugurated at the Chi Lang stadium in the coastal city of Danang on December 25 in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

The games attracted the participation of 66 sports delegations comprising nearly 8,700 athletes competing in 12 sport disciplines and sub-categories.

 The grandiosity of the opening ceremony made a strong impression on the audience.

 The event started with six helicopters dropping ‘fairies’ with a music accompaniment.

 The rituals were followed by an art performance by 1,600 actors and students.
