Early August 21, provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism kicked off the 2013 provincial open Judo tournament to celebrate the 68th anniversary of August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

This year’s tournament has absorbed nearly 100 athletes from 11 Judo clubs, including Binh Duong 1 and 2, district 9’s Club, Nguyen Du Club, Thu Duc Club, the Army, Ben Tre, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Gia Lai and national young team. Athletes will compete in 18 weight categories, men at 50-100 kg and women at 42-78 kg. The tournament will also take place with team event of 12 weight categories, men at 55-81kg and women at 45 and 63 kg.

After the opening ceremony, participating athletes entered the qualifying round of individual event for men and women’s weight categories. This is also a chance to promote the local Judo movement and sort out outstanding martial artists for the national Sports Festival 2014. The tournament will conclude on August 25 ahead.
