The Government has issued Decree 154/2016/ND-CP on environmental protection charges for waste water. Accordingly, the environmental protection charge for waste water is 10% of 1m3 clean water’s selling price excluding value added tax, and may apply a higher charge according to the actual situation in each locality.
Exemption cases include wastewater discharged from hydroelectric plants; circulating water in production facilities, processing without discharging into the environment; sea water used in salt production; domestic wastewater in areas under state subsidy regime implemented in rural areas and areas there is no clean water supply system; water of equipment and machinery and is not directly exposed to contaminants; natural rainwater; wastewater from vehicles caught seafood and concentrated waste water that is treated and meet standards.
Regulations will take effect from Jan 1st 2017 and replace Decree 25/2013/ND-CP.
