Party chief hails contributions of OVs

 The Party, State and people highly value the patriotism and valuable contributions of Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) to the process of national construction, the Party chief said on Oct. 6.

 

Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh made the remark while receiving outstanding OVs from all parts of the world who have returned to the home country to attend millennial celebrations in Thang Long-Hanoi.

 

The leader said he hoped OVs would continue upholding the tradition of patriotism and strengthen unity to build their communities and a prosperous Vietnam with a worthy position in the international arena.

 

The new situation has posed opportunities and challenges to the country, so all Vietnamese people, both at home and abroad, must do their utmost for the common cause, he stressed.

 

Having affirmed that OVs are an integral part of the Vietnamese nation, Manh urged them to make recommendations on the draft documents to be submitted to the 11 th National Party Congress, thereby contributing to the goal of a rich people, a strong nation, a democratic, equal and civilised society.

 

The Party chief also noted with pleasure that many OVs have successfully invested and done business in Vietnam , while a number of OV artists have organised practical activities towards the Fatherland.

 

Representatives of the OVs said they were delighted to witness the huge achievements Vietnam has recorded during the renewal process and national construction, citing the ongoing celebrations as evidence.

 

They thanked the Party and State for their care and sharing of the difficulties and aspirations of OVs and promised to contribute more to the development of the home country.

 

The same day, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Central Committee Huynh Dam met with 200 overseas Vietnamese from 34 countries and territories who went home for the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi./.
