Person creates vitality for roots of trees

Seeing artistic works are carved thoroughly and sophisticatedly, no one thinks that they are made from roots of trees. After being craved by Nguyen Van To in quarter 5, Uyen Hung ward, Tan Uyen town, insentient roots of trees become admired sculptural works.

Keening on roots of trees

 

Mr. To admitted that way to tree root sculpture is deprived from destiny. In 1983 after leaving the army, he worked for a State-run agency. Till 1985 he quitted this job. “At that time I and my wife involved in doing home-based business. After that, seeing a root of tree in my garden, an idea flashed upon me that if I can recycle this root of tree into a useful thing, so my way of sculptural art was started”.

 

Mr. To added that his daily work of bringing vitality for thorny roots of trees is the way he makes up ambition for himself on free time.

 

In the past, there were many roots of trees, he mainly selected roots of precious trees such as Narra Padauk, Redsadalwood, Zitan, among others. These roots of trees are very good in quality. However, these now the mentioned precious trees do not appear much, so he only chooses roots of jackfruit or African Mahogany trees.

 

For ambition

 

Flashing the idea of tree root sculpture, Mr. To however does not have any concept of carpentry, drawing, sculpture, excluding ambition. Therefore, he manages to learn and practice days by days.

 

After more than 10 years of study, Mr. To makes many people admire because of his impressive works made by an amateur artisan.

 

Notably, a set of dinning room table was carved by him for many years. Every chair contains a unique form.

 

Mr. To revaled that across his house overwhelms sculptural works, so he has to sell them. Only with several meters of space behind the house plus tools of sculpture, artistic works are considered as To’s spiritual children.
