In the first half of 2019, Phu Giao district’s agro-forestry and fishery production value was estimated at more than VND1.9billion or 45.14% of the year’s plan.
The district’s total area for growing annual crop plants was 2,139 hectares, down 0.82% compared to the same period last year while total area for growing perennial plants was more than 38,740 hectares, up 0.03% against the same period last year. The district’s animal husbandry sector also faced obstacles, due to the outbreak of African hog cholera. Reportedly, the whole district had a total of 228,050 pigs and 3,756 cows, down 1.35% and 2.64% against the corresponding period last year, respectively.
Noticeably, along with 2 An Thai and Phuoc hi-tech agricultural parks, the district is now home to 103 hi-tech agricultural farmsteads, including 57 on cultivation and 46 on animal husbandry. Among them, there are 17 with VietGAP certifications.
