Vietnam and Cuba need to further strengthen cooperation in economics, trade and investment, PM Nguyen Tan Dung told outgoing Cuban ambassador Fredesman Turro Gonzalez.
At a reception in Hanoi on August 7, Dung expressed his hope that Cuba will support Vietnamese businesses in sounding out opportunities and boosting investment cooperation, especially in telecommunications, agriculture, and infrastructure construction, in its country.
He also proposed both countries continue supporting each other at regional and international forums.
The PM noted that the ties of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba have developed well over the years, bringing practical benefits to both nations.
He acknowledged the Cuban ambassador’s constant efforts in strengthening bilateral relations during this working term in Vietnam and proposed the outgoing diplomat make more contributions to this relationship in whatever positions he will hold in the future.
Ambassador Gonzales shared Dung’s view that the two countries have not yet fully tap their potential and that Cuba wants to expand cooperation with Vietnam in all areas, especially those of Vietnam’s strength and Cuba’s need.
He said he hopes that Vietnam will share its successful models on socio-economic development and management with Cuba.
He vowed to continue cementing the friendship and cooperative relations between the two countries in the future.
