PM: Government willing to facilitate business development

The Vietnamese Government will do its utmost to create optimum conditions for businesses to improve productivity, quality, operational efficiency and competitiveness. Prime Minster Nguyen Tan Dung made the affirmation in his concluding speech at a meeting with the business community in Hanoi on April 28. PM Nguyen Tan Dung and domestic and foreign business representatives.(Photo:VGP) The Government leader praised businesses’ efforts and contributions to the country’s socio-economic development but also pointed out their difficulties, shortcomings and limitations, such as weak competitiveness, limited governance capacity and unimproved business environment. In response,, Dung requested ministries, sectors, localities, associations and the business community join efforts to effectively implement key tasks, with a focus on improving the business and investment environment, a crucial factor behind the country’s economic development. To achieve this goal, it is imperative to ensure socio-political stability and macroeconomic stability, thus helping the business community feel secure about production and business operations, Dung added. He highlighted the need to stimulate economic growth by revamping market economy institutions, ensuring freedom of business, transparency and equality in business operations and simplifying administrative procedures regarding the establishment of businesses, taxes, customs, land management and inspection formalities. With regard to administrative reforms, the PM said the Government is calling for officers and employees to change their attitudes when dealing with issues related to enterprises and the people. Dung directed the banking sector to assist businesses with simplified credit access, development of capital markets and better links between them and banks. He reiterated the Government’s willingness to promulgate proper mechanisms and policies to support enterprises while suggesting that businesses should pay special attention to restructuring and advanced technological application in order to increase labour productivity, sharpen competitiveness and decrease production costs. Dung requested businesses and associations coordinate with all relevant agencies in anti-trafficking and contraband, counterfeit and substandard products, market expansion and proper law enforcement.
