Province makes efforts in labor supply for businesses via cooperation model

Update: 08-10-2010 | 00:00:00

In 2007, provincial People’s Committee approved a plan on labor supply cooperation between businesses, provincial Job Center and other localities. After three-year implementation, the cooperation model has contributed to absorbing immigrant laborers at province-based businesses’ demand.

Linkage for labor supply

Binh Duong is now home to nearly 11,000 businesses providing jobs for nearly 700,000 laborers, 80% of whom are immigrant ones. The province lures 400 or 500 new investment projects annually with the recruitment demand of 40,000 or 50,000 laborers. But, the number of laborers herein does not meet the great demand, so it is very necessary to lure immigrant laborers.

In a bid to redress the labor shortage, provincial People’s Committee, in 2007, approved a plan on labor supply cooperation between businesses, provincial Job Center and other localities. So far, there have been more than 30 provinces signing deals on labor supply with Binh Duong. More than 20,000 out of 70,000 immigrant laborers herein have been recruited through the cooperation model.

Director of provincial Job Center Dang Ngoc Thien Huong said that the cooperation model has contributed to meeting province-based businesses’ labor demand and absorbing many investment projects to promote the local development….

Support policies from businesses needed

According to Vo Trong Nghia, chairman of Dong An Transportation Joint Stock Co., the province’s functional agencies need to give more attention to laborers so that they can feel secure to have a strong attachment to businesses…

Whilst, Le Dang Thanh, Director of Thanh Hoa provincial Job Center said: Thanh Hoa has abundant workforce. There are now more than 36,000 laborers working in Binh Duong, most of them have been recruited by the cooperation model. Among them, there are a number of unskilled laborers, so businesses in Binh Duong have had to spend more time on giving vocational training to them. Of course, these laborers have only received low salaries for their probation period. Most of them are poor laborers with the hope of seeking jobs with stable income to have a better life. Therefore, when receiving low salaries for probation period, they have felt disappointed and given up their jobs.  Before the situation, businesses need to pay more attention to laborers for strong attachment between the two sides…
