Confused in operation

According to a report from TDM city’s Steering Committee for Collective Economy, the whole city is now home to 26 cooperatives in terms of transport, agricultural production, trade-services, construction…There are also 6 cooperative groups with 71 members, including 2 cooperative groups on animal husbandry and 4 ones on cultivation together with 17 clubs, comprising of 2 farmers’ clubs, 2 clubs on cultivation, 1 club on good production and business…

The reports specified that the majority of cooperatives in TDM city have still got confused in operation. Particularly, they have worked in a small scale, lacked capital for production expansion; not yet got access to preferential loans and mapped out flexible and specific plans in production and business…

Potentials

Whilst, Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of TDM city’s Farmers Association said that the models on collective economy managed by the association have so far worked very effectively, creating enthusiasm among members. For example, the club on ornament birds, fish and flowers in Chanh Nghia is a typical example for this. This result has been attributed by the logical management of the club’s executive board. Many other models on apricot blossom, orchid and sprout vegetable under the urban agricultural trend have also went on smoothness.

Mr.Hung added that the above results have come from the efforts by the local farmers. They have bravely applied sci-tech advancements in agricultural production under the urban agricultural model, helping them uphold their agricultural experience and skills for better results. This has also helped open new potentials for them.

New way

According to Tran Van Luc, Vice-Chairman of TDM city’s Farmers Association, the local functional agencies need to consider and guide cooperatives and cooperative groups to immediately register exclusive trademarks or industrial property rights, which is seen a way to protect themselves.

He added: “Cooperative economy is an important part for economy and always receives the attention of the Party and State. The Law on Cooperatives will be amended with more incentives, so the city’s Steering Committee for Collective Economy needs to deliberate about the classification of all cooperatives for their development orientations…”.

Whilst, Le Quang Vinh, Head of TDM city’s Department of Economics and Planning said that this was unobvious when saying that cooperatives’ ineffective operation has came from the impact of the global economic downturn. Hence, the local functional agencies need to concretely consider each cooperative’s working way for timely solutions.

Concluding the meeting, provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Tran Thanh Liem asked for TDM city’s Steering Committee for Cooperative Economy to strengthen the machinery of cooperative economy and bravely eradicate ineffective cooperatives; widely multiply outstanding cooperatives…
