Province strives to reach 25,300 units of blood from voluntary blood donation

Provincial People's Committee Chairman has just signed a decision to issue the Directive No. 02/CTUBND on strengthening mobilization for voluntary blood donation in 2024.

To ensure an adequate supply of safe blood for the local medical emergency and treatment in 2024, provincial People's Committee Chairman has directed heads of departments, sectors, mass organizations, armed forces, People's Committees of districts, towns, cities, agencies, units, businesses, and schools in the province to further strengthen propaganda and mobilization of voluntary blood donation; mobilize at least 20% of cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers, Youth Union members, and students to give blood, striving to collect 25,300 units of blood in 2024.

Provincial Red Cross Society is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating with relevant units to implement and propose the assignment of targets to units; ensuring material facilities and equipment to serve propaganda, advocacy and blood reception; strengthening propaganda and mobilization of voluntary blood donation; carrying out inspection, supervision; organizing preliminary and final reviews and proposing timely commendation.

Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and Labor Union have directed Youth Unions and Trade Unions at all levels to mobilize Youth Union members, pupils, students and workers to be ready to participate in voluntary blood donation and coordinate with the Steering Boards for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization at all levels to mobilize individuals to participate in blood donation during peak and unexpected periods.

Provincial Department of Health has directed the local hospitals to coordinate with provincial Red Cross Society and HCM city-based Cho Ray Hospital’s Blood Transfusion Center to organize reception and support of human resources, blood transfer, ensuring safety in blood transfusion while directing officials, civil servants, public employees and workers in the sector to actively propagandize, mobilize and participate in voluntary blood donation. Provincial Department of Education and Training, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs have directed educational establishments and vocational training establishments to mobilize teachers, pupils and students to actively participate in voluntary blood donation.
