Provincial Buddhist Sangha offers gifts, scholarships to 220 children orphaned, due to Covid-19 epidemic

Early October 7, provincial Fatherland Front Committee received a symbolic board of VND 330 million from provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board for 220 children orphaned, due to Covid-19 pandemic at Hoi Khanh pagoda.

The event was attended by Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council, Chief of the VBS’s Office II, Head of provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board.

Accordingly, each orphan will receive a gift and a scholarship worth VND 1.5 million. Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong shared that Covid-19 pandemic has caused great damage, especially the loss of family members that nothing can compensate for. With the compassion of the Buddha's children, especially through the appeal of provincialFatherland Front Committee, provincial Buddhist Sangha mobilized its sub-committee for nun affairs to call for nuns to join hands in giving beloved gifts to children orphaned, due to Covid-19 pandemic.

On behalf of provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Mr. Loc thanked Buddhist monks and nuns for their efforts in taking care of children orphaned, due to Covid-19 pandemic. This is the start, contributing to making pervasion to many organizations, individuals and enterprises in the society to join hands in taking care of disadvantaged children and helping them have more conditions to study better...

On this occasion, provincial Fatherland Front Committee and  Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board awarded gifts and scholarships to two representative parents who are the mothers of five children orphaned, due Covid-19 pandemic.

*On the morning of the same day, provincial Children Support Fund coordinated with departments, agencies, mass organizations and donors to offer financial support to over 100 disadvantaged children affected by Covid pandemic in Thuan An city, Di An city and Bau Bang district. Accordingly, each child was supported VND5million. These are children orphaned, due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The program to support orphans affected by Covid-19 epidemic has received support from SHB Bank through the Vietnam Children’s Support Fund. Accordingly, the province has asked for the Government to support 220 local orphans with a total amount of VND1.1 billion. Through the program, representative of provincial Children's Support Fund hopes that these children will try to overcome difficulties and further pursue their learning; families and society will love, help and accompany them on their future steps ahead.
