Good care to keep workers

In the face of the negative effects of the pandemic on the lives and jobs of workers, along with the State’s support policies, mass organizations have participated in sharing difficulties with them. Especially, the business community in the province has carried out many activities taking good care of employees to keep them.

Employment and income ensured

Uchyama Vietnam Co., Ltd., in the Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) I, has more than 2,400 workers. In the face of employees and enterprises’ common difficulties, the company has implemented many solutions. Nguyen Viet Xiem, President of the company’s trade union local said that since July, the company has worked under the "3 on-site" production model, with the participation of nearly 2,000 employees. The remainders temporarily stopped working, due to having babies or living in blockage and quarantine areas. But, they were still paid 70% of the region-based minimum wage by the company. Then, in September 2021, the company also created favorable conditions in terms of procedures for employees to stay at home to be able to receive the Government's support packages...

For employees working under the "3 on-site" production model, in addition to getting care from the company with 4 meals, clean and airy sleeping places, they are also supported with additional VND 250,000  and  3 boxes of fresh milk per person per day together with oranges and vitimin C to help strengthen their resistance…“With many efforts, the company has overcome all difficulties from Covid-19 pandemic to maintain production and business activities, ensuring employment and income for workers. This is one of the company’s most effective ways to keep employees. Upon this, the company has kept 70% of the total number of employees ", said Mr. Xiem.

Uchyama Vietnam Co., Ltd.'s efforts to overcome difficulties have ensured employment and income for nearly 2,000 employees, with an average income of nearly VND 20 million per person per month. Especially, the company now needs additional 300 to 500 employees. Nguyen Van Dong (from central Ha Tinh province), who has taken job at the company for more than 10 years shared: "Not only guaranteeing jobs with stable income for employees, the company has also constantly improved its working environment so that employees can work efficiently and safely. This is also the reason for me to decide to stay, not to returning to my hometown to avoid the pandemic, and have a long attachment with the company."

It is known that when Binh Duong has returned to the "new normal" state, many enterprises in the VSIP I have proactively announced their production and business plans as well as care policies to keep laborers. According to a report by the VSIP I’s Trade Union, as of October 6, there were 381 enterprises with trade unions resuming operation with a total of 115,740 employees returning to work, accounting for 70% of total.

Trade Union accompanies enterprises

In the face of enterprises and workers’ difficulties, due to Covid-19 pandemic, the VSIP’s Trade Union has implemented many practical activities. Accordingly, the Trade Union supported nearly VND 8.5 billion for 3,632 trade unionists and employees affected by the pandemic; provided meals for trade unionists, workers who are working under the "3 on-site” production model the spot" in 338 enterprises with a total amount of nearly VND41 billion. In addition, the Trade Union also donated more than 6,500 gifts, comprising of necessities, to trade unionists and workers affected by the pandemic at lodging facilities from support resources of units and provincial Labor Union.  

Dang Thi Kim Chi, President of the VSIP’s Trade Union said that the Trade Union has directed trade union locals to continue actively coordinating with enterprises to promote dissemination of information on Covid-19 prevention and control among members and employees in the spirit of not being subjective, negligent while further maintaining Covid-19 prevention and control measures at factories under the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health to protect workers‘health and stabilize enterprises’production and business activities. “The Trade Union has implemented support packages for trade unionists and employees to share difficulties with them. The local authorities, social insurance agencies are also speeding up disbursement of support packages so that trade unionists and employees can receive allowances soon in order to have more conditions to cover their lives while soon organizing the 2nd dose vaccination for workers, especially "3 on-site " ones in industrial parks so that they can feel secure to work" said Mrs. Chi.
