Yesterday of July 4, together with nearly 500,000 student candidates nationwide, over 5,000 ones out of totally 12,000 registered have attended entrance examinations to Thu Dau Mot University and Binh Duong University in the first stage of enrollment to regular universities and colleges in 2014. Under our investigation, the first day was in safe and up-to-standard manner. Conformity from the beginning As reported, the first day was in conformity with standards and without violation of regulations. The participation was over 87.39% of total registration and over 800 were absent without reason. To support the candidates and their relatives taking them to examinations, the volunteer youth teams were present near the universities and colleges. Entrance examination monitoring staff is checking attendance card of candidates Provincial police forces coordinated with local authorities to ensure traffic safety and order around the examination sites. In the first day of the examinations, students were present at the sites very early. After consolidation, Thu Dau Mot City University has attracted more candidates from 46 provinces of the nation. Those candidates came 1 to 2 days before the examination day. In entrance examinations, Binh Duong Provincial Department of Education and Training has been highly evaluated by the ministry for maintenance of orders and regulations. Meantime, the candidates have been very cooperative in assuring the regulations Mr. Dang Thanh Sang, Deputy Director of local Department and the monitor of entrance examination to universities and colleges in Binh Duong Province said: “In the first day, everything was in order without any breaches.” Challenging examinations Under evaluation of the examination tests, candidates and teachers considered this year examinations would be challenging requiring the candidates to allocate their time logically to minimize errors. “In my opinion, the Math test was harder for two parts – basic and advanced. I chose the basic but was not very satisfy with my solution,” said Tran Phuoc Duy, a candidate from Loc Thai Senior High School of Loc Ninh District in Binh Phuoc Province. The candidates to entrance examinations to universities and colleges are talking after finishing the Math test Majority of the candidates responded to the challenging Math examinations which required them to grasp the basic knowledge to earn 60 to 70% of marks. On the other hand, by our investigation, some candidates quit as they have done about 30% of the tests, showing concerns of failing the entrance examinations for Math. The tests for Physics challenged some candidates at their best of 40 to 50% of completion. Under evaluation of entrance examination monitoring staffs, the tests were well organized and of the standard without fake pursuit for achievements and breaches of regulations. Reported by H.
