Scholarships, gifts worth nearly VND66bln awarded to poor-but-excellent students and pupils

Late January 13, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee cum Head of provincial Steering Board of Children and Teenagers’ Activities presided over a conference to review the local children and teenagers’ activities in 2014.

Many significant activities for the local children and teenagers were organized last year. During the Youth Month, the local Youth Union members collected and eradicated 1,000 illegal leaflets; planted more than 2,000 green trees; cleared nearly 500 sewers…The Steering Board also organized goods-selling points with stabilized price; introduced jobs to 1,200 youngsters, supported VND50mln for young workers with extremely difficult circumstances from provincial Support Fund for Poor Alien Youth…during the Workers’ Month.

During the summer, the Steering Board also awarded nearly 1,900 scholarships, over 500,000 gifts and 2,500 certificates of merit to more than 522,000 poor-but-excellent pupils and students with a total value of nearly VND66bln.

Addressing the conference, Mr.Liem agreed with a report on the results of the local children and teenagers’ activities in 2014 and orientations in 2015. He also suggested members of the Steering Board to attach special importance to education of lifestyle and law among the local children and teenagers. On this occasion, the Steering Board honored 9 collectives and 7 individuals for their excellent performance in 2014’s summer activities.
