Sea and island sovereignty protection included in university exams

July 9, more than 6,000 candidates of Thu Dau Mot University and Binh Duong University’s university entrance exams started this year entrance exams’ second phase. In the first exam day of the second day, exam supervision was strengthened closely.

Many candidates register Group D1’s exam

At these universities, the work on second phase exam preparation was completed prior to the first phase. However, owing to many exam subjects  and exam groups in the second phase, preparation work is focused thoroughly and closely. The second phase’s examinees taking tests of groups of B, C, D1 and aptitude groups entered a server competition to grasp university tickets. In the morning, group B and D’s examinees took math test while group C’s candidates took geography test. Biology, history and foreign language tests for candidates of group B, C and D1 respectively in the afternoon.

In Binh Duong, Thu Dau Mot University and Binh Duong University continued to hold the second phase at 8 exam locations. The number of candidates of the second phase is much higher than examinees of the first phase. In the second phase, Thu Dau Mot University had 5,579 examinees among 6,521 registered ones. With the huge quantity of candidates, Thu Dau Mot University arranges 263 exam rooms at 7 exam councils and assigns 738 exam supervisors.

Most of the examinees register to take tests in group D1. Thu Dau Mot University alone has 2,179 examinees while group C’s candidates accounts for only 1,562.

In the second phase, examinees and parents enjoyed thorough assistance from volunteers right after they arrived at coach stations or exam locations.

Le Van Hai, secretary of Thu Dau Mot University’s youth union said that the university youth union would continue to hold exam season assistance program to help candidates find out cheap-price boarding and eateries. Also in this second phase, the university mobilizes donors to offer free 500 accommodations poor candidates. In addition, the university youth union called upon donors to offer 1,500 meals, 3,500 loaves and more than 1,000 mineral water bottles for examinees free of charge.

Meanwhile, Binh Duong University set up the social work team to take examinees to the university’s dorms. The university’s management board offers free accommodations for candidates away from home.

Ph.D Ngo Hong Diep, head of Training Department cum secretary of Thu Dau Mot University’s exam council said “In the second phase, like previous years the Ministry of Education and Training adjusts order of exam subjects to minimize pressure for candidates. Therefore, Thu Dau Mot University’s exam council focused on disseminating order of exam subjects thoroughly for exam supervisors and candidates”.

“Ending the first exam day of the second phase, all 8 exam locations had no violations of exam regulations”, added Hong Diep.

After ending 2 first exam tests, many candidates of group B and C said that this year’s exam tests are close to high school programs. Group B’s candidate Nguyen Thu Hai said “Math test of group B in this year is easier than previous years”.

As for group C, many examinees felt comfortable after taking geography test. Especially, sea and island sovereignty protection issue was embraced in geography test.

Examinee Tran Thi Thien Huong attending in Thu Dau Mot University’s entrance exam at Vo Minh Duc high school exam location said “Geography test asks candidates to write about Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf and simultaneously refers to significance of fishermen’s sea product fishing in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. I often monitor news on East Sea issue and can guess this year’s exam questions relating to the East Sea issue, so I completed the exam test relatively”.

Today, candidates will take chemistry and literature tests.
