Shooter Xuan Vinh overtakes Wu in ISSF rankings

With the first Olympic gold medal for Vietnam (in the men’s 10m air pistol event), Hoang Xuan Vinh has overtaken Wu Felipe Almeida from Brazil in the September rankings of the International Shooting World.

Before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Wu topped the world ranking in the 10m air pistol men event while Vinh was ranked sixth. The victory at the Olympic Games helped Vinh secured the leading position.

At present, Vinh (born in 1974) has earned 4.289 points, followed by Wu Felipe Almeida with 4.107 points.

Meanwhile Vietnamese shooter Tran Quoc Cuong dropped two spots to No. 28 in the rankings due to his failure at the Olympics.

In the men’s 50m pistol event, Vinh jumped 18 notches to No. 2 in the International Shooting Sport Federation rankings from the No. 20 position last month. The jump has been attributed to his silver medal at the men’s 50m pistol event at Rio 2016.
