Binh Duong Team is deemed to be young in chess playing field. Chess playing development in Binh Duong started from 2006 when difficulties are being overcome. By 2008, Mr. Do Nguyen Thanh – head of Binh Duong Chess Team, initiated to organize an open chess tournament in Dong Nam Bo region. From the start, the tournament was only attended by 6 teams in 2008 with 120 players. But in 2011, the attending teams have increased to 16 with 220 players. The tournament quality has been improved thanks to success of many players in domestic and international arenas.

The tournament is drawing more professional chess players.

The success was also thanks to great donations including those from Dai Nam Tourist - Cultural - Historical Zone which has sponsored venue and resting places for players.
