Spring warmth at the border

Children have lucky money, needy people have Tet gifts... that alone is enough to feel warm when we come to the "Border Spring" program jointly done by Binh Duong provincial Women's Union and its affiliated facilities, border posts, and benefactors on this Lunar New Year 2024.

Spring comes early in a border area

Early in the morning, we departed from Binh Duong when its was still foggy. Just gone 8 a.m., the group of Provincial Women's Union was present at People's Committee of Thanh Hoa commune, Bu Dop district (Binh Phuoc province). More than 150 people, including disadvantaged students and women in border areas, were waiting. Boisterous spring music made the atmosphere of the Spring Border program more joyful and exhilarating.

This time, the program gave support soldiers of Thanh Hoa Border Guard Station, households having difficult circumstances, and children for all to have a joyful and warm Tet. The program was organized by Provincial Women's Union in collaboration with Hunt Brothers Company, Information and Communications Board - Executive Board of Provincial Buddhist Sangha, with a total value of gifts of more than 110 million VND.

In the last days of the year, the group was led by Women's Committee of Provincial Police, Women's Union of Provincial Military Command in coordination with Mobile Training Battalion of Border Guard Command of Binh Phuoc province, and other agencies and units, like: Medic Binh Duong General Hospital, Binh Duong Young Doctors Association, VNPT Binh Duong, Binh Duong Lottery Company. The delegation also visited, distributed medicine, and gave Tet gifts to people in Loc Thinh commune, Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province.

Joy when spring comes

Ho Thi Hoa, 68 years old, a resident in hamlet 8, Thanh Hoa commune, Bu Dop district (Binh Phuoc province), said that in addition to the Tet gifts given by Binh Duong Women's Union’s delegation, she also received additional support from People's Committee of Thanh Hoa commune and got Tet gifts from other groups, so this spring is warm, happy, and full to her. The villagers are very happy”. Tran Duc Huy, an elementary school student, was very excited when he received the gift: “I received gifts including 300,000 VND in cash and a Tet gift basket. I will give this gift to my mother. I save the money to buy new clothes for Tet, so I don't have to ask my parents for money!"

Major Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Head of Women's Committee, Party and Political Work Committee of Provincial Police, said that to implement the program “Accompanying frontier women" for the period 2023-2025 and respond to the emulation movement “The whole country join hands for the poor - not to leave anyone behind”, her unit organized the 2024 Border Spring program with activities, such as to award 50 gifts to poor, studious students, officers and soldiers having difficult circumstances of Mobile Training Battalion of Border Guard Command of Binh Phuoc province; provide free medical examination, medicine and give Tet gifts to 100 policy households; give housing repair support to a member family having particularly difficult circumstances in Loc Thinh commune, Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province, total amount of more than 120 million VND...

 

Hearts turn towards the border

During this Tet holiday, the group of Women's Union of 9 districts, towns and cities, Women's Committee of Provincial Police, Women's Union of Provincial Military Command, and Binh Duong Provincial Businesswomen Association will also organize "Border Spring" program for 10 posts and 1 Training - Mobile Battalion in Binh Phuoc province. This is an annual activity that demonstrates the steadfast love between the home front and the front line and have been carried out for many years.

The program will include activities, such as: giving gifts to poor students and women; free medical examination and medicine; breeds or seeds as livelihood support, building or repairing shelters for poor women in border areas, cultural exchanges, and early Tet welcoming together with officers and soldiers of border stations and units...

Also according to Major Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan: “With these activities, many gifts are given. Although the gifts are small, they have a special meaning, expressing the spirit of "Good leaves protect torn leaves", helping people living in remote areas have a full and warm Tet; motivate students to study well and be obedient to parents; encourage officers and soldiers to successfully complete all assigned tasks in the new year."

Caleb Hunt, Director of an organization that sponsored this program, said he has lived and done business in Binh Duong for more than 16 years. Currently, he has a Vietnamese wife and two children. Binh Duong gave him a stable job and a happy family. Therefore, he wants to share his success with people who are still in difficulty. And "Border Spring" is one of the meaningful programs that he has participated in for the past few years and will continue to accompany this program to together bring happy spring to soldiers and people in border areas.

Truong Thanh Nga, President of the Provincial Women's Union, said that in these days, in addition to the delegation of Provincial Women's Union, affiliated units will also organize Border Spring program at the twinned border posts. "The activities to strengthen the spirit of solidarity and mutual affection, contributing to bringing a heartwarming Tet to people in the border areas," said Nga.

Recently, all levels of Women's Union in Binh Duong province have called on donations to build 21 charity houses for poor women in border areas; coordinated to organize free medical examinations, provide medicine, and give gifts to policy families and poor households for 1,100 people... The "Border Spring" program is part of a series of activities implementing the program "Accompanying border women" for the period 2023-2025, which will contribute to raising officials and women members’ awareness of the national sovereignty protection; make the close relationship between the Women's Union and the border guards become stronger and more practical.

The delegation of Provincial Women's Union provided financial support to repair houses for poor women in border areas.
