Summer volunteer campaign among young workers: Significant weekends

That was the “Pink vacation” program under the summer youth volunteer campaign 2020, bringing hallmarks of the local young workers over the past time.

In response to activities marking the 73rd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs ‘Day, provincial Support Center for Young Workers held a “Pink vacation” program and the 24th  journey “connecting young workers”. The annual activity aimed to create an environment educating young workers about the revolutionary tradition  and paying tribute to heroes and martyrs; arouse the nation’s pride on the glorious revolutionary tradition.

During the journey “connecting young workers”, young workers visited the Statue, Memorial Monument of the People’s Armed Force Heroine Doan Thi Lien in Ben Cat town’s Chanh Phu Hoa ward. They cleaned up the monument, offered incense to commemorate the heroine while learning about her life. They also visited, donated gifts to heroic Vietnamese mother Le Thi Dau in Chanh Phu Hoa ward’s quarter 1B in Ben Cat town; held an exchange program with the local Youth Union members…

Under the “Pink vacation” program, young workers belonging to the “Cau Vong” (Rainbow) volunteer club and clubs “connecting young workers” actively got involved in  the model of “beloved kitchen”. It is known that the model is co-held by the center and Nhan Nghia general hospital in Ben Cat town with free meals offered to needy people on Sunday mornings at No.99, Binh Duong Avenue, quarter 2, My Phuoc ward, Ben Cat town. During the “Pink vacation” program 2020, the kitchen is expected to offer 1,000 free meals to people with difficult circumstances.

The center also organized many other practical activities to support young workers at industrial parks, compounds and those who face difficulties, due to Covid-19 pandemic. Accordingly, the center coordinated with localities to organize a series of programs on consultancy of reproductive health, marriage-family, gender equality; propaganda on drug prevention among young workers”.

At the event, young workers were informed of the harmful effects of drugs, the role and responsibility of the community in the fight against drugs; got consultancy on reproductive health, marriage-family, gender equality. The organizers also organized a booth on unemployment insurance consultancy and support policies for those who have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic; offered 20 gifts worth VND250,000 each to young workers with difficult circumstances.

The event aimed to raise young workers ‘awareness in drug prevention while propagandizing, mobilizing donors, proprietors to donate “dream” houses, set up youth model lodging facilities and organize recreational activities…

Do Van Phung, Director of provincial Support Center for Young Workers said that under the “Pink vacation” campaign with voluntary spirit, the center will launch “Green Sunday” programs with such significant activities as cleaning up lodging facilities, making “paying debt of gratitude” activities, offering help to young workers with difficult circumstances. The center will also organize journeys “connecting young workers”, “return-to-the-root” trips to “red addresses”, aiming to strengthen education about historical tradition, revolutionary ideal, patriotism and voluntary spirit among young workers in the new period…
