To meet the public’s demand on healthcare, especially minimize overload at provincial hospitals, the provincial health sector has mapped out a project of developing grassroot medical centers for the 2011-2015 period with key goals of equipping medical facilities and human resources for the centers.

Difficulties in need of settlement

Districts and towns across province set up the project steering boards to excel the project. However, after nearly one year of implementation, the localities have faced some difficulties of shortage of material facilities, poor maintenance and management.

In addition, Phu Tho and Phu Cuong wards’ medical stations lack of area for building. Phu Hoa ward medical station alone is shortage of material facilities. At present, Thu Dau Mot town project steering board has petitioned to allocated land fund for the 3 medical stations.

High determination

The provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Huynh Van Nhi, said “despite difficulties, the local administration is determined to excel the project as well as other projects of the local sectors of healthcare, education and social welfare…”.

The provincial People’s Committee steered the local Health Department and relevant agencies to excel the project. Under Decision 142/2006/UBND dated June 1, 2006 on approving the project, the entire province has built 16 clinics across industrial parks and compounds. Meanwhile, the locality needs to build and upgrade newly 22 communal health stations.

Despite difficulties, local leaders are determined to excel the project. Success of the project will surely bring conveniences for residents’ healthcare and contribute to improve quality of healthcare.
