Part 2: Modern urban infrastructure

Tan Uyen has focused on developing socio-economic infrastructure in both depth and width. Especially, the locality has paid attention to urban infrastructure, which has been invested quickly and modernly to meet criteria of a town.

Corresponding to a city

Thanks to industrial manufacture strongly developed, the urban image of Tan Uyen has obviously emerged. From an agricultural locality, Tan Uyen today has reached strong changes, sufficiently meeting criteria of a town.

To achieved the above results, Tan Uyen has actively implemented a program on socio-economic infrastructure development to satisfy the local development requirements in the 2011 and 2015 period, had determination to develop into a flexible town with all potentials tapped.

Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Chairman of Tan Uyen town’s People’s Committee said that the recognition of Uyen Hung township as a fourth-class city has demonstrated the local process of industrialization and modernization.

So far, many streets in townships of Uyen Hung, Thai Hoa and Tan Phuoc Khanh have been covered by asphalt with a total expense of around VND189bln. The traffic system of Tan Uyen now includes 5 provincial-level streets with a total length of 138.27km, 100% of which have been covered by asphalt; 25 district-level streets of 120.35km, 80% of which have been covered by asphalt and all 756 commune-level streets of 963.46km covered by asphalt.

Some key traffic works in Tan Uyen such as those of upgrading DT746 street, DT747 street from Ba Nghia slope to Cong Xanh, DT747 B from Ong Cu temple to 747A, invested by the province are being carried out. According to Mr.Phuong, they are main works and also important infrastructure facilities of the region, contributing to promoting the economic development of Tan Uyen in particular and of Binh Duong in general.

Along with traffic system, Tan Uyen has attached special importance to the local water supply, drainage and environment. There are now 3 water supply plants, namely South Tan Uyen, Uyen Hung and Tan Hiep, with the average capacity of 77,000 cu.m per day, contributing to lifting the ratio of the local people in use of clean water to 99.72%.

Many projects on building embankments and dredging canals in Tan Uyen have also been implemented. So far, 90% of waste in the urban region and 50% of waste in the rural region of Tan Uyen have been collected and treated. Tan Uyen has also bent on upgrading systems of public lighting, verdure, telecommunications…

Development orientations

As planned, Tan Uyen town includes 6 wards, namely Uyen Hung, Thai Hoa, Tan Phuoc Khanh, Thanh Phuoc, Tan Hiep and 6 communes, namely Bach Dang, Vinh Tan, Hoi Nghia, Thanh Hoi, Phu Chanh and Tan Vinh Hiep. The town has a total area of 19,249.20 hectares and a total population of 190.564 people.

For development orientations, Tan Uyen town will carry out a zoning plan of the 1/2000 scale for administrative units of the South Tan Uyen urban area under the local master plan approved; make a plan on technical infrastructure development of 6 communes and townships that will be upgraded into wards.

Tan Uyen town will also make investment in main streets in a synchronous way. For urban infrastructure works quickly formed up, the local authorities at all levels will take measures to support investors of the relevant projects; strive to fulfill great projects on resettlement and urban areas that are being built…
