Update: 26-05-2011 | 00:00:00

In this June, Binh Duong Trade and Sports JSC with direct cooperation of Tran Duc Quynh coach (former No. 1 tennis athlete Vietnam) together with colleagues named Minh Quan (Vietnam champion), Thuy Dung (former No. 1 female tennis of the country) will stand to coach the tennis camp for children in Binh Duong New City. This camp is modeled from popular summer tennis camps in the U.S., where talented players are spotted out. What will this model be for the first time in Vietnam?Binh Duong Newspaper reporter has just interviewed Mr. Le Cuong, Director of Binh Duong Trade and Sports JSC.

Tran Duc Quynh and Thuy Dung will be in charge of training courses at the camp.

- Could you please introduce whate the main features of the tennis camp will be applied in June course?

- Overall, this is a training program for adolescence beginners who will learn the knowledge and skills in modern tennis. Apart from tennis instruction, the program will enhanced community skills to promote their self independence. On weekends, the organizer will offer them tours of the historical, cultural addresses, craftsmanship village of Binh Duong province and neighboring areas, such as Minh Long ceramics, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer, War Zone D, the Cu Chi tunnels ... so that they will understand more about the history, the country and people of Vietnam. In addition, they will be trained with complementary subjects such as swimming, basketball, football ...

- One thing parents want to know is the level of staff training, as well as the management and care when they attend school?

- As for training staff and trainers, the parents can be assured. Tran Duc Quynh, who has been qualified for the highest degree of Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP level I), will be joined by his colleagues experienced in training and competition, including top players such as Vietnam's Do Minh Quan, and Nguyen Thuy Dung (Duc Quynh students).

- It is known that tuition for each student participating in the camp is VND 20 million. As such, are these fees too high to make the program interesting and useful for the kids to attend in the summer?

- This is the first ever international program in Vietnam, so we offer high standards in training, catering, tourism explore and so on to meet the requirements. Tuition fees of VND 20 million are rather high but are reasonable for catering, resting (in standard hotels), traveling, equipments, training, and insurance. Each tennis court is at maximum of 4 trainees, so with nine tennis courts Becamex can only train up to 36 children. If training is divided into two shifts per day, only a maximum of 72 children per course are trained. In the next course, we will do research into publicizing the key summer tennis camp to reduce the cost so that more people will have better opportunities to follow.

- Does the organization have any incentives granted to those children with special circumstances, especially, students who have special skills demonstrated through the course? Then, what are the possible incentives?

- The main purpose of the course is to train children with tennis; however, we also aims at discovering talented players to put them into intensive, long-term, and professional training. If anyone with good skills is in difficult circumstances, we will offer free course. As for the students with good skills demonstrated through the course will be free of charge for the next intensive training course to become a professional tennis athletes in the future.

- Thank you Sir!
