The 9th “Military Semester" 2018: to be an enjoyable experience in summer days

In the morning of June 24, Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee organized the launching ceremony of the 9^th"Military Semester" 2018 at Provincial Youth Activity Center. The program ran from June 24 to June 30. This was a useful educational model, meaningful playground that has been multiplied in Youth Union branches under various programs to help students to practice life skills and have fun experiences in summer.

This was the ninth year that Provincial Youth Union in collaboration with Provincial Military Command held Military Semester. Provincial Youth Activity Center is the annual organization implementing the program. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Xuan, Secretary of Provincial Youth Union, said that the content of the “Military Semester" was learning, training, focusing on traditional heroic education of Vietnam People's Army, Vietnamese people, education on patriotism and willingness to fight for national defense. In political education sessions, there were documentary films about President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap.

In addition, youngsters were trained in life skills to identify issues in life, family, teamwork, creative thinking, perception of self-improvement, behaviors and communication; At the same time, they participated in internationally thematic talks, games, festivals, cultural and sport activities. The program created necessary knowledge and skills for youngsters in learning and life.

At the "Military Semester", little soldiers were trained in military commands, learned to disassemble and shoot AK submachine gun, postures and movements on battlefield, experienced production activities. Living in a military environment, youngsters acted as a soldier, experienced agile working style, independence, solidarity that would train their will, spirit to overcome difficulties.

In addition to the province-level "Military Semester", grassroots Youth Unions also had activities for students to approach the military environment during summer days to train, educate traditions for teenagers. Nguyen Thi Van, Secretary of Tan Phuoc Khanh ward Youth Union (Tan Uyen town) said: "In summer 2018, the union will continue to cooperate with army units to organize a program "One day as soldier" to help children to have experiences in a community, build up solidarity, training discipline and teamwork skills…”

In North Tan Uyen district, in July, Youth Union Standing Committee of the district will also cooperate with local Military Command and Education and Training Office to organize the program "I am a small soldier" to experience activities of soldiers. The program aims to educate youth union members, students on patriotism, national pride, raising the spirit and responsibility of the young generation for the national building and defending cause.
