The province pays attention to the conservation and preservation of cultural heritage

Along with the upward development of the province, the preservation, preservation and promotion of cultural values in Binh Duong always receive the attention and direction of Party committees and administrations at all levels. The culture, sports and tourism branch, which is directly the Provincial Museum, has performed many related tasks to preserve cultural values, to confirm that Binh Duong is a land with a long-standing culture and history.

To continue the successes

Recently, Provincial Department of Culture, Sports & Tourism has cooperated with Thu Dau Mot City People's Committee to hold a ceremony to announce the recognized national intangible cultural heritage "Tan An Ky Yen Festival" to honor and introduce the values of this cultural heritage to all classes of people in Binh Duong. This is the latest achievement of the Culture, Sports and Tourism branch in the conservation and preservation of cultural values in Binh Duong. Before this, the staff of Provincial Museum spent a lot of time and focused their efforts on collecting documents and images to make scientific records to advise Department of Culture, Sports & Tourism and provincial leaders to submit for the recognition of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Le Van Phuoc, Director of the Provincial Museum, said that the conservation and preservation of cultural heritage is an important job of a country. The preservation of heritage has great significance, i.e., both preserving the cultural identity of the nation and creating resources for economic development of the province. In the process of preserving and preserving cultural heritage, the Provincial Museum always strives to protect relics in the best and safest way; absolutely do not allow encroachment on monuments and relics, always have a plan to prevent risks that may adversely affect relics, such as: to carry out the restoration of monuments; anti-insect treatment; build fences to protect monuments. In addition, the Provincial Museum also installed lightning rods for monuments to minimize the risk of monuments being knocked down or broken by lightning.

For intangible cultural heritages, the Provincial Museum regularly implements schemes and plans to preserve and develop cultural heritages, compile scientific dossiers to be included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages. Efforts made in this work have brought worthy results. In early 2022, "Tan An Ky Yen Festival" was recognized and included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage. In total, up to now Binh Duong has had 4 national intangible cultural heritage, including: Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer craft, Binh Duong pottery, Tan Khanh Ba Tra martial art, and Ky Yen festival of Tan An communal house.

To protect and preserve cultural values

At the announcement ceremony of national intangible cultural heritages and national treasures held recently, Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed his pride as Binh Duong has more heritages and treasures that are included in the national cultural treasures. He asserted: “The unique creations of our forefathers bequeath us meaningful and diverse material and spiritual heritages. This is the honor and pride of all people in the province, and at the same time, make a practical contribution to preserving and promoting the local cultural values in the treasure of Vietnamese cultural heritage".

In order to carry out the protection, preservation and promotion of cultural heritages in Binh Duong, Provincial Museum has been carrying out many related activities. Le Van Phuoc said that the Provincial Museum was implementing the project "Preserving and promoting the artistic value of “Đờn ca tài tử” in Binh Duong province until 2025, with orientation for 2030"; the plan "Protecting and promoting the value of practicing beliefs about Mẫu Tam Phủ worship of the Vietnamese in Binh Duong province in 2018-2022 period"; set up scientific dossiers of  "Di An communal house Ky Yen festival" to submit to Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism to be included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

Regarding national treasures, Provincial Museum implements the plan to protect, preserve and develop the value of national treasures of Binh Duong province. Regarding historical and cultural relics, the unit continues to compile two scientific dossiers for the recognition of provincial relics "Mả 35" (Tomb 35) in Di An city and "Tân Thới communal house" in Thuan An City.  Provincial Museum is also offering advice to the grassroots science and technology project of "Preserving and promoting the value of historical-cultural relics and scenic spots in Binh Duong province until 2030", the project "Organization and operation of national monuments Phu Loi Prison, Southwest Ben Cat Tunnels, War Zone D, which are waiting for approval from superiors for implementation.

About the effectiveness of conservation and preservation of cultural values in recent years, Le Van Phuoc assessed: “In general, the protection and preservation of cultural heritages in the province have brought many practical effects. The relics are protected intact, not invaded, encroached. Intangible cultural heritages have dossiers and were honored to raise awareness of the whole people. The projects and plans received much attention to contribute to the protection of intangible cultural heritage in the province.

In addition to 4 heritages that are included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages, Binh Duong province also has 2 heritages included in the list of representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity, 3 artifacts were recognized as national treasures.  Binh Duong province has now 63 relics which were recognized and ranked: including 50 provincial and 13 national relics.
