Top priority given to education development, says President

Update: 03-09-2013 | 00:00:00

State President Truong Tan Sang has confirmed that the Party and State pay special attention to education and training, considering it top national priority.

Education and training is defined as a strategic area to help support national industrialisation and modernisation, Sang told teachers and students of Bui Thi Xuan High School in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong on September 3.

He said the ongoing Doi Moi (Renewal) process requires the education sector to carry out a comprehensive reform to generate high-quality human resources for the nation.

President Truong Tan Sang said education reform is needed

He asked the education sector to grasp and successfully fulfil “this uphill, but glorious task”.

Sang asked teachers to renew teaching methods, improve professional skills, and set a moral and studious example for students to follow.

The President also encouraged students to overcome hardships to excel in study and become good citizens.

He called on Party organisations, administrations, schools and parents to create the best possible conditions for students to study and make contributions to society.

President Sang beat the drum, kick-starting a new academic year at Bui Thi Xuan High School.

He presented gifts to 10 good students of specially difficult and social policy beneficiary families.

Established more than 60 years ago, Bui Thi Xuan High School has met the national standard criteria, providing high-quality education services.  Many of its students have worked as competent managers, scientists and officers of the people’s armed forces in the locality.
