The marvelous flame taken from the Temple of Dinh Tien Hoang King in Hoa Lu ancient capital, Ninh Binh province will be brought to Ly Thai To’s statue on the National Day (September 2nd).

 

To promote patriotism and the revolutionary tradition and cultural – historical traditions of the 1,000 years of Thang Long – Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism organized an itinerary “Torchlight procession to historical Thang Long”.

 

Three excellent athletes of the Capital’s sport sector will be honoured to participate in the torchlight procession; they are Do Huu Cuong, (golden medalist at SEA Games 25) Tran Tuan Quynh (golden medalist at SEA Games 25) and Nguyen Thi Thu Ba (golden medalist at ASIAD).

 

The torchlight escorted by hundreds of athletes from Hanoi and Ninh Binh province will be a flame at Ly Thai To’s statue in Hanoi Capital from September 2nd. Then the torchlight will be welcomed in 29 districts and towns in Hanoi together with gymnastics – sports, cultural, and show performances to welcome the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi Festival. The torchlight will be glow at Ly Thai To’s statue until October 3rd, at which time a race conducted by the Hanoi Moi Newspaper will be opened.
