Russia is the world’s ninth largest economy, achieving a GDP growth rate of 4.2 percent in 2011 and 3.4 percent in 2012. It greatly relies on the exploitation and processing of natural resources, mainly oil and gas, metallurgy, and chemical and machinery manufacturing.
