Part 1: converging Southern land
In the framework of the 1.000th anniversary of Thang Long – Ha Noi, Binh Duong province is chosen by the Government as a place for holding the Vietnam-Binh Duong Ceramics Festival 2010 with the theme of “Colorful World”. The event is not only a chance for businesses, artisans to exchange experiences but a cultural event converging people and int’l friends and Binh Duong people to boast of production and business tradition.
Towards the 1.000th anniversary of Thang Long – Ha Noi
Doan Nam Sinh, a member of the Vietnamese Historical Science Association, said “Ceramic is attached to human life. Appearance of ceramic shows existence of life. Besides, ceramic is attached to rivers. The more rivers are big and long, the more ceramic development is high. Vietnam-Binh Duong Ceramics Festival 2010 is an unusual chance for ceramic artisans nationwide to introduce their achievements”.
Antique ceramics will be exhibited at the Festival.
Nguyen Van Tan, head of a Southern rep agency of the Ministry of Culture-Sports and Tourism, affirmed “Ceramics is the national spirit and distinctive character of national culture. Vietnam-Binh Duong Ceramics Festival 2010 is part of activities of marking the 1.000th anniversary of Thang Long – Ha Noi and is the activities’ only event in the Southern region held in the province with many reasons of potential land, famous land for ceramics and land of ceramic development”.
An int’l calibre event
There was a lot of controversy of scale of the event. However, member of the Vietnam Craft Village Association explained “Vietnam is a stable country, lightly suffering economic recession, so we can spread and win the world’s attention to the event”.
Vice head of the Int’l Relation Bureau Le Ngoc Dinh shared “China, South Korea and Japan are nations with the most hi-tech ceramic production in the world. However, our goal is to integrate and exchange. Furthermore, we have an advantage of being a host to invite them to the event for the sake of mutual learning. Binh Duong has made good stamps in economy in the renewal period, this is a good chance for the locality to make a good impression on culture for int’l friends”.
Vietnam-Binh Duong Ceramics Festival 2010 will take place from Sept. 2-9, 2010 with many activities of fashion performance, cultural exchange, trade promotion, seminars.
Archaeological sites show that Binh Duong was used to a ceramic production workshop attached to Sai Gon and Dong Nai Rivers. The archaeological sites in Rua Islet, Dat Cuoc commune and so on are considered as the father of the present Binh Duong ceramic industry.
