The Ministries of Justice of Vietnam and Laos jointly held a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of their cooperation, in central Quang Binh province on September 7.
In his speech, Vietnamese Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong said that over the years, together with their cooperation in various fields such as politics, economics, military, diplomacy, science and technology the two countries have achieved encouraging results in the legal and judicial sector.
For three decades, they have constantly strengthened their cooperation in human resource training, law-building, judicial administrative affairs, judicial assistance, legal information exchange and database building, he noted.
Lao Minister of Justice Chalon Nhiapaoho expressed his belief that the judicial cooperation between Vietnam and Laos will contribute to legal and judicial reforms in each country as well as to the special friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
On the occasion, five cooperation agreements were signed by representatives of Vietnamese and Lao judicial agencies, training establishments and social-professional organizations.
Minister Cuong presented the Vietnamese State’s second-class Independence Order to Minister Chalon Nhiapaoho.
The Lao Minister of Justice also presented the Lao President’s second-class Independence Order to Minister Cuong and third-class Independence Order to the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice.
The same day, a delegation from Laos’ Champassak province led by its governor Sonphay Siphandone visited the central province of Khanh Hoa to boost bilateral cooperation.
