AIMAG 2017: Vietnam secures more golds

 Vietnam won more gold medals at the ongoing fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG 2017) in Turkmenistan on September 19.

Nguyen Tien Trong won a gold in the men’s long jump with a jump of 7.48 metres.

The same day, runner Le Tu Chinh pocketed a silver in the women’s 60 metre event with 7.36 seconds, and Nguyen Thi Hang also won a silver in the women’s 400 metre event with 54.41 seconds. Gold medals in both events went to athletes from Kazakhstan.

In jujitsu, Dao Le Thu Trang also bagged a silver in the women’s 45kg category.

At the end of September 19, Vietnam had three gold, five silver, six bronze medals, ranking seventh in the tally.

Host country Turkmenistan topped the medal tally with 41 golds, 27 silvers and 18 bronzes.

AIMAG 2017 attracts athletes from 65 countries and territories, including some in the Oceania.

Vietnam sent a 164-member delegation to the event. Vietnamese athletes compete in 14 of the 21 sports of the Games with the aim of winning eight gold medals.
