The first session of the 13th National Assembly (NA), opening on July 21, will focus on its organisation and personnel work.
This was released at the NA’s Standing Committee's 42nd session, which wrapped up in Hanoi on July 14.
The Head of the NA Office Tran Dinh Dan said the session will also focus on some crucial issues including the 2012 Law and Ordinance Building Programme, measures to implement the socioeconomic development plans and State budget targets in the second half of 2011. The 2009 State budget balance will also be approved.
In addition, the NA will discuss the implementation of the 11th National Party Congress’s resolution and the Party Central Committee’s second meeting’s resolution on the amendment to the 1992 Constitution.
Speaking at the congress, Party General Secretary and NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong stressed that agenda of the session should also include the government’s proposal on tax exemption in 2011.
Also at the first session, the NA will elect the NA Chairman, his Deputies, Members of the NA Standing Committee, the State President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam, the State Audit of Vietnam’s Chief Auditor and the Inspector General and approve the list of cabinet members.
The first session will run from July 21-August 6.
