During the past 20 years, volunteer activities of Binh Duong province’s youths not only took place in the summer youth volunteer campaign, but also appeared in all times and areas in need of help.

Typical examples

Nguyen Hoai Thanh Thao, Vice-Chairman of Phu Giao district’s Youth Federation is a typical example for youth activities across the province. Over the past 15 years, he mobilized organizations and individuals to provide free medical check-up, medicine and gifts for more than 4,000 people in the province, more than 500 people in Bu Gia Map district’s Bu Gia Map commune in Binh Phuoc province with total expense of more than VND900million. He also mobilized relevant units to build 17 houses of compassion worth VND850million for poor youths; upgrade more than 23 km of rural roads and made installation of the local rural lighting system with total value of more than VND750million…

Or, Nguyen Minh Tam, Vice-Chairman of TDM city’s Youth Federation has had a strong attachment to the local Youth Union task since 2011. Particularly, he has set up and well maintained a charity class in Hiep Thanh ward. The charity class has also maintained a “Beloved meal” model with total expense so far reaching more than VND900million. Besides, he has effectively developed many other models, namely the club on volunteer blood donation with more than 50 members, the ward-level youth volunteer club…

Journey with in-depth development

The province’s summer youth volunteer campaign has gone deep into the life of the local youths and associated with 2 neighboring countries Laos and Cambodia.

After 20 years of development, volunteer activities of the province’s youths have been very diverse both in content-form and in line with requirements of the local socio-economic development. Volunteer forces have also been expanded via appropriate programs, namely “Giving strength to exam season”, “Pink vacation”, “Red flamboyant”…

Nguyen Tan Dat, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that after 20-year implementation, the province’s youth volunteer activities have been expanded to all parts of the country. Particularly, the province’s volunteer squads offered life buoys and jackets to fishermen; awarded scholarships to ethnic minority pupils; provided free medical check-up, medicine for people in island districts; built flag poles on Tho Chu island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, Phu Quy island in the central province of Binh Thuan; constructed public toilets; launched a beach cleaning campaign…

Along with great socio-economic values, the province’s youth volunteer campaign has helped the local young people grow up while upholding their strength in the cause of national development and construction.
