6th provincial Red Cross Congress kicks off

The provincial Red Cross yesterday held its 6th congress for the 2011-2016 term with the participation of the provincial party committee vice secretary Vu Minh Sang, the provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Huynh Van Nhi and nearly 500 members of the society.

In the past term, the provincial Red Cross society at all levels helped over 3.6million people with the total value of VND324bil, 6 times over the 4th term. To improve skills for the society’s members, the society opened 2,085 training classes on management, health education, first aid skill… for nearly 119,000 people. The entire province now has 329 grassroot societies, 1,986 sub-societies and 8,538 teams with nearly 172,000 members.

In the 6th term, the society will focus on activities such as humanitarian assistance, natural calamity prevention and fighting, rescue, voluntary blood donation…

The congress elected the society executive board for the 6th term with 29 members. Tran Thi Lien has been re-elected as the society chairwoman and Ho Hoang Nam re-elected as vice chairman.

Addressing the congress, Vu Minh Sang lauded the society’s efforts and contributions and asked the society to renovate operation modes, spur educational promulgation and reinforce the party’s leadership and so on.
