This month Bau Bang district celebrated the 55th anniversary of Bau Bang Victory, which was at that time an iron fist on the South battlefield. 55 years have passed, this land, which made many victories in the resistance war for national liberation, continues to establish new "victories" on the front of socio-economic development. Bau Bang is changing its face, and soon become an industrial and urban center in the North province.

Industry is the foundation

Bau Bang district was established and put into operation more than 6 years ago. From an agricultural district with their main crops as rubber and fruit trees, after many years of economic restructuring towards industry, trade - service and agriculture, Bau Bang has so far gained many important results in socio-economic development. The former fierce battlefield is now full of vitality and continuously growing.

According to Vo Thanh Giau, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Chairman of People's Committee of Bau Bang district, in the past tenure 2015-2020, although the newly established district faced many difficulties, Bau Bang district have made efforts and determined to successfully implement goals and tasks set out by the 11th District Party Congress, with the solidarity and unification within the whole political system. “Economic growth of the district is always high, average over 17% / year. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction towards increasing the proportion of industrial production. Currently, industrial proportion in economic structure of the district reaches 72%, trade - service 21%, agriculture only 7%”, said Mr. Vo.

Industrial sector of Bau Bang district has developed quite impressively. From an industrial park (IP) with an area of 1,000 hectares, the district has increased to 2,700 hectares. In which, Bau Bang IP expanded to nearly 900 hectares, Tan Binh IP 95 hectares, Cay Truong IP 700 hectares. In addition, Lai Hung IP with about 600 hectares is preparing steps for commencement. The IPs quickly attracted domestic and foreign investment projects. Initially, the district had 326 projects (269 domestic projects and 57 foreign projects) with a total registered capital of over 15,000 billion VND and nearly 1 billion USD, then the district has now over 1,000 projects (863 domestic investment projects and 188 FDI projects) with a total registered capital of nearly 30,000 billion VND and over 3 billion USD. Compared with the beginning, the number of projects increased 3 times, domestic investment capital doubled and foreign investment capital increased 3 times.

The above figures are evidences of the rapid change of this land over a period of less than fifty years. It is a miracle, a new "victory" in Bau Bang district.

To gradually complete infrastructure

The gradual improvement of infrastructure system is one of important tasks in the overall plan of the 12th Party Resolution of Bau Bang district, tenure 2020-2025. In addition, in the next 5 years, the district Party will focus on three breakthrough programs, including "Building a comprehensive and modern infrastructure, combined with industrial and urban development in Bau Bang district, 2020-2025 period and the vision towards 2030". This is a strategic vision in the local socio-economic development to make the district soon become the northern industrial and urban center of the province.

Mr. Vo said that in recent years, the district had mobilized many resources to gradually improve its infrastructure system for industrial growth, heighten people's lives with a total investment capital of over VND 5,800 billion. In addition, the district annually spent more than 40% of its budget to invest in educational and medical projects to meet development requirements. Particularly in the field of transport, currently the district's road system and rural transport are being invested and upgraded. Currently, 100% of district roads are asphalted, and over 33% of rural roads are concreted, creating favorable conditions for commutes and production development.

In the coming time, in addition to economic restructuring towards industry, trade - services and agriculture, the district will concentrate resources on technical infrastructure to call for investment and attract labor for industrial development.

The Chairman also mentioned one of the favorable opportunities for Bau Bang to make breakthrough in the near future, that was the supplement to planning, implementation of strategic key projects, creating regional connectivity, such as: Bau Bang - My Phuoc - Tan Van, North Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang, South Bau Bang highways, expansion of Bau Bang Industrial Park , Cay Truong Industrial Park, Lai Hung Industrial Park, Tan Binh Industrial Park etc. especially the scientific technological industrial park in Cay Truong commune, which is the nucleus of Binh Duong Innovation Region project. These are really the "kicks" for Bau Bang to develop rapidly and sustainably in the coming years.

The district will also make investment in urban development to meet the increasing development needs. Currently, there are 7 residential areas in Bau Bang Industrial Park and Urban Area with an area of 1,160 hectares and 25 residential projects outside industrial zone, and were approved by Provincial People's Committee with a total area of over 450 hectares. The district is also implementing the construction of social housing for workers on an area of 93 hectares with more than 31,000 rooms, meeting the accommodation need of more than 90,000 workers. Besides, the district will raise urban criteria, accelerate the upgrade of Lai Uyen urban area to class 4; and Lai Hung, Long Nguyen to class 5.

Inheriting achievements of the previous term and with both specific and strategic, long-term objectives in the new term, Bau Bang district is believed to make even stronger progress in the future.
