Binh Duong Junior College of Culture and Fine Arts: Interesting sightseeing destination

With more than 120 years of establishment and development, Binh Duong Junior College of Culture and Fine Arts on the peaceful Saigon river is considered as the "cradle" of Binh Duong’s fine arts. In addition to the values of history, culture and fine arts, recently, the school has also invested in renovating its campus as well as galleries while organizing exhibitions on fine arts..., attracting numerous visitors.

Attractive destination

Following the footsteps of nearly 30 children of Le Petit Musee Education Center in Ho Chi Minh city, we had the opportunity to learn more about the traditional crafts of Binh Duong land when visiting this historic school. With many different nationalities, these children are quite young, but very attentive to learning more new things when coming to each sightseeing area. This shows that these children were also very interested in art spaces here, especially when learning about the province’s 3 traditional crafts: lacquer, sculpture and woodworking. After the visit, the children were also supported to experience some practical stages of lacquer painting, clay molding by teachers of the school. Being able to see with their own eyes, experiencing to make some products… even for a short time, they got an indelible impression in their minds.

Le Quynh Hue, representative of Le Petit Musee said that through her research, she knew that this was an art school founded by the French, with a long history and many fields in fine arts, especially handicrafts that foreign children should explore and learn about. “I think it will be good if foreign children as well as Vietnamese children understand traditional crafts. In each field trip, they will collect a little bit to enrich their future living capital. Having the opportunity to approach, they will slowly understand and visualize traditional crafts like this. Studying or reading books, watching movies is sometimes not as impressive as tens of minutes of directly visiting like this."

After visiting a number of destinations in the province, recently, members of provincial Retired Officials’ Club have also had a tour at Binh Duong Junior College of Culture and Fine Arts. For many members of the delegation, this is the first time they have come to this art school, so they all shared a feeling of excitement. Here, the delegation was introduced about the history of the school by teachers as well as visiting the school’s workshop to see art works made by teachers and students here. In addition to the old trees with beautiful shady canopies, the school’s campus is also arranged with beautiful miniatures, so everyone wants to keep memories when coming here.

Nguyen Phu Yen, Deputy Head of provincial Retired Officials ‘Club shared that this was one of destinations in the club's program to revisit ancient monuments and architectural works in the province. “I personally feel very proud because there is a school in my province that was established more than 120 years ago. We hope that in the coming time, provincial leaders and Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will continue paying attention to upgrading this work so that it can be preserved and developed more", said he.

Towards a higher position

Not long ago, Binh Duong Junior College of Culture and Fine Arts welcomed a delegation of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, led by painter Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. At the exchange, members of the delegation shared with the school’s teachers about their experience in painting. Painter Luong Xuan Doan highly appreciated the activities of the school, especially in training many good artists in the fine arts world. He believed that with the attention of State management agencies and the determination of the school's leaders and teachers, Binh Duong Junior College of Culture and Fine Arts will increasingly develop and create a new position.

Le Quang Loi, Vice-Principal of Binh Duong Junior College of Culture and Fine Arts said that the attention of provincial People's Committee, especially through the celebration of the 120th founding anniversary has opened up a new page for the school. Recently, the school has been more well-known and has welcomed many delegations of all ages. According to Mr. Loi, with the desire of becoming an artistic highlight of Binh Duong province in general, of the central area of Thu Dau Mot city in particular, in addition to vocational education, the school has also organized more art experience activities, art exhibitions and renovated its campus to attract more visitors.

“These activities are of great interest to the school with the main goal of upholding the traditional crafts of the province, developing vocational education in association with the local project on tourism development, contributing to conserving the local “don ca tai tu” (southern folk music), traditional arts …”, Mr. Loi shared.

With the desire of becoming an artistic highlight of Binh Duong province in general, of the central area of Thu Dau Mot city in particular, in addition to vocational education, the school has also organized more art experience activities, art exhibitions and renovated its campus to attract more visitors.
