Binh Duong reaches over 90% of criterion on new rural traffic

The Ministry of Transport, on June 6, held an online conference to review its traffic construction and management in association with a goal of new rural construction in the 2010-2015 period and define orientations, tasks through 2016 and 2020, which was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh, Head of the Central Steering Committee for the National Target Program on New Rural Construction. In Binh Duong, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee also attended the conference.

According to a report released by the Ministry of Transport, the whole country’s traffic network between 2010 and 2012 reached a total length of 570,448 km. Although facing difficulties in capital, localities carried out many effective models in rural traffic construction, including those of making socialization of rural traffic construction from many sources; eradicating temporarily-built bridges via “Span of bridge of compassion”, “Lightening roads in the countryside” programs; using existing materials…

It is known that Binh Duong has so far achieved more than 90% of criterion on traffic of the new rural construction program, contributing to helping it soon fulfill other criteria of the program. The province is now home to 7,421 km of roads with a density of 75km/km2. There are 100%, 99.6%, 80.85%, 87.76%, 51.82% and 100% of highways, provincial-level roads, district-level roads, urban roads, specialized roads and roads to the centers of districts and communes covered by asphalt.

At the conference, Mr.Ninh also presented the certificates of merit together with awards to top localities in the task of new rural construction and development.
