Binh Duong to organize the 2014 festival to mark Buddha’s birth with a large scale

Update: 26-03-2014 | 00:00:00

Early March 25, provincial Buddhist Sangha forwarded a meeting to implement plans for organizing the 2014 Binh Duong festival in celebration of Buddha’s birthday.

The program is expected to absorb nearly 10,000 participants in Binh Duong and southeastern provinces with great activities, including a parade with 25 flower-decorated trucks running from Hoi Khanh pagoda to Hoi An pagoda; a training program for 2,000 Buddhist propagandists; a night festival with 2,558 candles; a fruit arrangement contest... It will take place on May 1 and 2, 2014 (April 3 and 4 of lunar calendar) with a total expense estimated at VND1.5bln.

According to Tran Duc Thinh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Home Affairs cum Head of provincial Committee for Religious Affairs, the 2014 Binh Duong festival in celebration of Buddha’s birthday is a local event, but it is organized with a scale of the southeastern region. Hence, provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board needs to have a close plan for organizing this festival so that it can take place successfully…
