Forming up a urban civilized lifestyle

Nguyen Van Dong, vice chairman of Thu Dau Mot city People’s Committee said that focusing in developing a modern and environmentally friendly city is a key goal for the city cadres and people. To win this goal, Thu Dau Mot city has given priorities to build technical and social infrastructure facilities and improve urban management capacity.

System of traffic, water supply, environmental sanitation and urban landscape has been developed significantly. Especially, this city has paid attention to building people of urban areas, including construction of urban civilized awareness and lifestyle for local residents.

To gain this goal, Thu Dau Mot city People’s Committee has over the past time launched a program of building an urban civilized lifestyle, ensuring environmental sanitation in the locality. Particularly, in 2012, Thu Dau Mot city party committee’s standing commission issued the Directive 13 on planting green trees at residential areas and public areas and the Directive 14 on ensuring traffic safety and order, urban sanitation for the period of 2012-2015. Lastly, Thu Dau Mot city party committee issued the Directive 17-CT/TU on cadres and party members should consciously set an example of ensuring urban order and traffic safety.

Concretizing the municipal party committee’s standing board’s Directive 13, Thu Dau Mot city People’s Committee has launched plans from now till 2015. Accordingly, the entire city till 2015 will replace 6,200 green trees, newly plant nearly 15,000 other trees, grow grass and ornamental trees across sidewalks in the city’s center areas with the total area of about 5,000sqm.

Pham Van Minh, vice secretary of Thu Dau Mot city party committee said that implementing Resolution No.24-NQ/TW of the 7th plenum of the 11th Party Central Committee on actively responding to climate change, increasing management over natural resources and environmental protection, Thu Dau Mot city has mapped out concrete plans, especially plans on environmental protection. Accordingly, this city will focus on 2 major issues of preventing and controlling pollution and improving quality of environment as well as surmounting environmental pollution.

Pham Van Minh added that aside from pushing up promulgation and education about environmental protection among cadres, public servants, people and businesses, actively responding to climate change, increasing management over natural resources and environmental protection, this city will also pay attention to building criteria and standards on environmental protection for agencies, organizations, businesses, cadres, party members in this locality, developing industrial production facilities on planning, environmentally friendly projects. Moreover, this city will give priorities to properly allocate budget for basic surveillance and settlement of environmental pollution, to preserve bio-diversification and respond to climate change, push up socialization work, mobilize socio-political organizations and people to join in environmental protection and simultaneously build self-control movements on environmental protection at industrial parks and compounds and residential areas and many more.
