At this time, retailers are actively preparing their supply of goods for the Lunar New Year. Mr. Nguyen Phuc Khoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vissan Joint Stock Company, stated that the company will supply approximately 930 tons of fresh food and 3,700 tons of other foods to the market for the Lunar New Year 2025, with an additional reserve of 10-20% of the goods to prevent sudden shortages in the market during the holiday. According to Mr. Phan The Thao, Director of Co.op Mart Binh Duong (Saigon Co.op), the unit has planned to prepare the goods supply for the end of the year and Tet celebrations since mid-2024. To have a large quantity of goods at good prices, Saigon Co.op has collaborated with distributors to place long-term orders lasting 3-5 years. Saigon Co.op has also planned to work with manufacturers and suppliers to stock goods for Tet, increasing inventory by 30-40% compared to regular days, while also launching many attractive promotional programs to stimulate purchasing power.
Mr. Vo Nhat Vu, Director of Go Binh Duong, stated that Go has thoroughly prepared to meet the demand for goods in the final months of the year. Accordingly, this supermarket system has planned early to ensure a stable supply of goods and maintain price stability. Go is also implementing many attractive year-end promotions to stimulate shopping and meet the diverse needs of customers. For food items such as pork, chicken, and vegetables, the system has actively negotiated and worked with suppliers in advance to purchase large quantities and ensure stable input prices.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Luong Thi Be Tho, Deputy Director of Trường Thọ Trading and Service Co., Ltd. (Ben Cat city), said that the current consumer trend during Tet does not focus on quantity but has high demands for product quality. The company always strives to bring to the Tet market organic products that meet green consumption criteria.
Stay upperhanded of supplies
Mrs. Phan Thi Khanh Duyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, commented that in the last months of 2024, the weather would endure erratic developments, with storms and floods occurring in various places across the country. Adverse weather conditions directly damage the production conditions of agricultural products for the people, potentially leading to imbalances in supply and demand, and increasing the prices of goods, especially essential items such as food, agriculture products, and fuel.

“In order to cope with the aforementioned difficulties, as well as to effectively implement market management solutions and ensure sufficient reserves of essential goods to serve the people during the Tet holiday, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to collaborate with businesses to carry out the task of stabilizing the goods market for the people, with a focus on the period before, during, and after Tet 2025. In this, the industry and trade sector focuses on solutions such as encouraging businesses to participate in stabilizing the market by registering to reserve goods, committing to ensure that at least 15% of the value of goods for market stabilization is used for responding to emergencies and adverse weather developments according to the instruction and management of local authorities. The market stabilization program in the province is expected to be implemented from December 1, 2024, until the end of the first quarter of 2025,” said Mrs. Phan Thi Khanh Duyen.
Currently, the Department of Industry and Trade is encouraging the wholesale and retail distribution system to actively coordinate with localities to effectively implement the mobile sales program bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas and industrial zones to serve the working people while promoting enterprises to carry out trade promotion activities, organizing trade fairs and exhibitions of Vietnamese goods associated with the campaign of "Vietnamese people prioritizing using Vietnamese goods." The Department of Industry and Trade is particularly accelerating the development of e-commerce to better harness the strong growth of the digitalization trend in the economy while enhancing the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, origin fraud, and unfair competition with active implementation of the Competition Law and the Law on Consumer Protection to ensure a healthy and fair business environment for enterprises and the rights of consumers.
