CPTPP is expanding, will America return?

Update: 29-11-2018 | 15:34:51

On 25 Nov, at the official dialogue session on Repositioning trade in Asia, chaired by Kenji Yokoyama, Asia Pacific Ritsumeikan University, of Horasis Asia Meeting 2018, many participants focused on the participation and preparation of many countries as economic powers in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

A full view of the discussion session.

With discussion content on how to build an integrated Asia, where goods, services and ideas could be freely exchanged across borders for the benefit of all members, the participants focused on: Participation and preparation of many countries as economic powers in CPTPP will facilitate goods trade between member nations. At the same time, it will also open up a competition for development among CPTPP members with China. But will cooperation and competition help members, especially new members, get access to new technologies for development; will the growth of CPTPP help the US come back?...

“This is a thing that countries, CPTPP members as well as businesses need to approach, make a selection to develop appropriate strategies. Whether or not the US returns, CPTPP will be a new and right direction for development”, concluded Kenji Yokoyama.
