Data center to contribute to construction premise of a smart city

As Binh Duong Province constructs its eData Center of fiber connection for widespread internet, it offers the premise of construction of a smart city out of the province.

Established since 2008, VNTT on the basis of equity of Vietnam Postal and Telecommunication (VNPT) and Investment and Industrial Development Corporation (Becamex IDC) is located at Mapletree High-tech zone in Binh Duong New City. Besides, VNTT is maintaining other representative offices and offers information technology and communication (ICT) services to customers in industrial parks, Becamex IDC urban areas, and Vietname-Singapore industrial parks in Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Nghe An, Quang Ngai, and Binh Duong. VNTT works mainly in supply of information technology and communication services and electrical infrastructure and light electricity in the province and mainly in industrial parks.

Core value of eData center

In recent years, VNTT has made great efforts in fulfilling infrastructure and developing high quality human resources to supply to its customers. Since 2013, VNTT entered the new development phase by investment into and based on data center exploitation. The eData Center was constructed on 5,000 m2 to contain major information of customers including the most demanding ones.

Nguyen Xuan Thu, Sales Director of eData Center of VNTT informed of optimized operations of the center in supplying international standard ICT under TIA-924/Tier3, one out of four major data centers in Vietnam offering full services to the customers. For any data center, the 24/7 power supply is a must to ensure thorough connection and access. At the site of VNTT power is supplied by two separated grid to ensure provisional measures for the system. In the event of accidents, the large-scale generator system powered by underground fuel tank of up to 50,000 liters to ensure operation of the generator. The cooling and fire prevention system has been strictly and thoroughly constructed by VNTT in accordance with international standard data center. The cooling system is to cool down and maintain humidity for the whole system. In the meantime, security control at the center is tightly observed thanks to observation cameras of data storage up to 60 days, infrared fences, identification and biological identification system at the highest level. VNTT has profoundly satisfied all the requirements of the most advanced data centers in the world.

Up to date, eData Center of VNTT has its name in the market for more and more customers are using its long-term services. The customers are from various economic sectors. To gain such trust from enterprises, VNTT has grasped up the demands for expenditure and transmission quality for customers to rent back-up data center; thus, the system was reasonably established. Besides, VNTT has signed contracts with transmission partners to ensure that VNTT’s data center is neutral in terms of transmission as VNTT’s customers can select from variety of services from many other suppliers.

Ready for a smart city construction

Binh Duong Province is available for a better city for the public and enterprises thanks to the use of technology to promote socio-economic development. According to experts, the construction of a new city is to develop smart technologies and application to better service human. Such development is based on information and technology. As the matter of fact, to gain a developed internet infrastructure and professional data center to be ready for construction of a smart city out of Binh Duong Province.

Currently, Binh Duong is making its first steps to develop smart city technologies such as cooperation with Philips from Holland to research a smart lighting system among other researches of smart application. Besides, the construction of the infrastructure and data center is the premise for breakthrough of technology application in State’s management and public services to offer convenient environment for the public.

Thu asserted that the general point of technological revolution is automation by which smart city is a part of the 4.0 technology revolution. The examples of smart traffic system are the recognition of vehicle registration plates; and, VNTT could keep pace of such tremendous development of technology and deeper development stage of cloud-based services.

Aiming to become the leading service supplier in Vietnam, VNTT is preparing for cooperation with foreign nations to establish a second data center to service customers’ needs.
