Di An Women’s Union takes care of female workers

Over the past time, Di An town’s Women’s Union was proactive to implement a lot of practical models taking care of legitimate rights and interests of members, especially female workers.

Women’s Union branches strengthened

Duong Thi Thuy Trang, Vice-Chairwoman of Di An town’s Women’s Union said that in the first half of 2018, the town’s Women’s union set up additional 3 branches for female workers at lodging facilities with 140 members in Di An and Tan Dong Hiep wards. So far, the whole town has had a total of 164 Women’s Union branches with 6,061 members.

In order to boost the operational effectiveness of the Project on “Uniting and gathering young workers”, the town’s Women’s Union has strengthened its cadres, including female workers. There are now 170 cadres, 109 of whom are female workers. The town’s Women’s Union has also maintained 7 main groups with 170 members meeting every quarter.

Practical care

The town’s Women’s Union has boosted activities taking care of female workers. In the first half of the year alone, the town’s Women’s Union visited, presented 179 gifts to branch heads, female workers who could not return home for Tet with a total expense of VND53.7million; organized a festival for women in Di An with such significant activities as free haircut, healthcare, legal consultancy, karaoke singing…The town’s Women’s Union also coordinated with the town’s Police Agency to hold 4 propaganda shows on traffic safety, drug prevention, order-security…with the participation of 260 members and workers.

In addition, the town’s Women’s Union has just kicked off the festival for workers 2018 in 5 out of 7 wards with practical activities, including a contest on flower arrangement under the theme of “Vietnamese workers”, a singing contest for young workers, a culinary and art exchange festival, folk games…The town’s Women’s Union also visited and offered help of VND11.1million to 2 female workers with difficult circumstances in Dong Hoa and An Binh wards; proposed provincial Support Fund for Alien Poor Workers to give VND2million for 1 female worker with extremely difficult circumstance in Tan Binh ward…

According to Mrs.Trang, building up cadres has helped the town’s Women’s Union to easily grasp female workers’ feelings and aspirations, contributing to strengthening solidarity among members. In the coming time, the town’s Women’s Union will further take solutions to unite and gather women via more practical care activities.
