With the area of over 44,000sqm at Viet Huong 2 IP in Ben Cat district, Saigon Tantec Leather Ltd. has been awarded the ISO 14001:2004 certificate by TUV Rheiland. The company trade union staff said that the company has spent over 50% of its land for green space. Especially, the company is one of the province’s first companies applying waste water treatment by filtration. This is a new and environmentally friendly technology for waste water treatment.

Annually, the company spends about VND500mil for environmental protection and uses solar and wind energy to produce hot water in service for production. Therefore, the company has won trust and lured many big clients possessing famous footwear brands such as Timberland, New Banlance, Rockport, Dr.Martens, Keen, Columbia…

With such success, the company has been awarded many prizes such as energy prize from the Federal Republic of Germany and gold prize from LWG.

Like Saigon Tantec Leather Ltd., Tran Quang Tea-Coffee Trade Company has eyed environmental protection and spent 15% of its land for green space.

New criteria added

To honor businesses excelling environmental protection, a new character of Binh Duong Green Book 2012 requires businesses winning criteria of Green Book to have the ISO 15001 certificate or GMP certificate or OHSAS 18001 certificate…

Besides, 3 criteria to categorize businesses and build Green Book in line with the provincial People’s Committee’s Decision 03/2011/QD-UBND include a score board to assess businesses.

Of these, the first criterion assesses legal execution on environmental protection. The second one comprises execution of regulations of Vietnamese environment based on results of explanation and measure of waste samples taken from businesses. The last one values execution on environmental management dossier and relevant issues relating to environmental protection.

Based on the mention criteria, businesses winning 80-100 scores will be listed into Binh Duong Green Book 2012.

To ensure legality of assessment and category for businesses as well as accuracy, fairness, democracy and timeliness in building Binh Duong Green Book 2012, the provincial department of Environmental Protection has checked and categorized businesses to timely announce businesses to be listed into Binh Duong Green Book 2012.
