Enterprises with green brand building

Update: 26-12-2023 | 11:41:12

Building a green brand is a development strategy of the business community to grasp global trends to be able to achieve sustainable development goals.

Pioneering advantage

According to Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Furniture Association (BIFA): "Enterprises are very aware of the role of brands and the extremely important contributions of green brands to production and business". Provincial Department of Science and Technology has coordinated with the Branch of Investip Industrial Property Joint Stock Company to organize a workshop to give contributive ideas and agree on completing documents managing the use of the "Binh Duong Wood" collective branch and training on management and dissemination of regulations on the use of collective brands.

Mr. Liem said that Vietnamese wood products are exported to 150 countries and territories around the world, which are known and chosen by world consumers. However, with the current consumer trend of meeting people's needs while contributing to environmental protection, products must meet safety criteria for the environment and people’s life. Therefore, Vietnam's wood industry is also gradually following the path of greening in all stages for sustainable development.

According to Nguyen Minh Nhat, Director of Nhat Minh Company in Ben Cat town, each enterprise is clearly aware that BIFA and its member enterprises need to gather strength in building a common brand for the association. It will be an important tool to promote Binh Duong's wood processing products to domestic and foreign customers, thereby contributing to helping the province's wood processing industry achieve the goals set by 2025, with an orientation to 2030. The trend that is spreading most strongly is green development, maintaining the Binh Duong wood brand in the international arena.

Huynh Thanh Trung, who is in charge of BIFA’s trade promotion said that recently, due to the impact of economic recession and tightening monetary policy in many countries, especially large economies such as the US, Europe and China have caused consumer demand to decline sharply. The level of goods circulation has slowed down, strongly impacting the production process of many industries, including the wood processing and export industry. In addition, large markets are having more standards for imported goods from other countries. In particular, standards of environmental protection and people’s lives are receiving more attention.

“Therefore, in order to continue establishing trade relationships, exporting goods to major markets, province-based wood processing and exporting enterprises are required to comply and fully implement strict standards, including European regulations on anti-deforestation and good implementation of the trade agreement between Vietnam and Europe to create a legal framework for wood and wood products exported to Europe (VPA/FLEGT). Hence, many businesses have taken steps to invest more seriously and methodically, using green brands to promote business development", said Mr. Trung.

Phan Thanh Duc, General Director of Binh Duong Garment Company in Thuan An city shared that we must confirm the fact that green development is the general direction of businesses. The business community and society are increasingly realizing their roles and obligations in building and maintaining a sustainable economy based on the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection. Green development is emerging because of the urgency of environmental issues. Responsible businesses consider this as a focus and incorporate it into their development strategy. When being communicated to the outside, it also makes the brand carry the color of green development, which is a factor that is of interest and support to the market.

Long-term plan

In the province's development orientation, Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee affirmed that in the coming time, Binh Duong will restructure the industrial network within the province and build new industrial models in association with the industrial network of the Southeastern region. Binh Duong determines to continue upgrading its industrial development model to gradually move away from labor-intensive and land-intensive situations. The transformation of the industrial - urban - service development model from new development models includes 2 phases.

The first phase comprises of promoting industrial - urban - service - smart - sustainable development, building and upgrading existing industrial parks (Ips) to become smart IPs, with the ability to provide technology platforms 4.0 such as IoT, BigData... All will help investors easily build and deploy smart factory and smart production models in Binh Duong's ecosystem quickly and effectively, increasing productivity, attracting green, environmentally friendly industries. The second phase is to develop industry - urban areas - international services - innovation - science and technology, building IPs in association with science and technology to attract institutes, schools and other research activities on development and innovation, services and digital services to attract high value-added industries.

Phan Thi Khanh Duyen, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that enterprises need to build up a methodical, long-term brand strategy right now; build brands consistently and purposefully, thereby improving the performance of brand investment. Businesses should start by perfecting their own products and services, upgrading products to increase their values to customers. The industry and trade sector will increase support for businesses to develop their brands in a green and sustainable direction in association with environmental protection, thereby increasing competitiveness, expanding customers while supporting businesses to explore and develop new markets, distribution channels and new sales forms.

Nguyen Quang Huan, Chairman of Halcom affirmed that province-based businesses following a green development orientation also clearly demonstrate the fact that they have a longer-term vision. They naturally become pioneering enterprises in environmental protection and green development. Therefore, they easily receive the support of customers in developed countries that are highly conscious of preserving and protecting the environment.
