2024 Action Month and Communications Campaign for Gender Equality launched

Early November 26, Ben Cat city’s People's Committee held a ceremony to launch the 2024 Action Month and Communications Campaign for Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence Prevention. The event was attended by leaders of the city’s People's Council, People's Committee as well as leaders from various departments and agencies in the city, along with a large number of students from Le Quy Don Secondary School and My Thanh Secondary School.

This year’s Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence has the theme of “Ensuring social security, promoting empowerment and creating opportunities for women and girls to realize gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence”. The campaign runs from November 15 to December 15, aiming at promoting city-wide communication efforts on gender equality and gender-based violence prevention. The initiative seeks to garner attention and emphasize the role, responsibility and proactive involvement of individuals, families, communities, agencies and organizations in ensuring social welfare and enhancing the empowerment of women and girls. These efforts aim at advancing gender equality while preventing and addressing violence and abuse against women and children.

At the ceremony, leaders of Ben Cat city’s People’s Committee instructed relevant departments, sectors, communes and wards to organize various activities in line with the theme of the Action Month. These activities include hosting seminars, dialogues, talkshows and training sessions on topics related to gender equality and gender-based violence prevention; organizing competitions and cultural exchange programs focused on the themes of gender equality and gender-based violence prevention; implementing support initiatives for victims of violence as well as women and children with difficult circumstances.
